Shaping the future – BayWa r.e. joins board of Biogasrat e.V.

Munich, 23 January 2015: Last Wednesday, Jens Eberlein, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Green Energy Products GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa r.e., was elected to the board of the German association Biogasrat+ e.V.

The trade association, Biogasrat+ e.V., which was founded in 2009, unites the leading companies in the biogas industry and represents the entire biogas and biomethane value chain. The aim of the association is to secure the place of biofuels in the energy mix of the future, whilst also helping the ecological modernisation of the economy, as well as improving legal, economic and political conditions. With these objectives in mind, the association promotes changes in the marketplace in the interests of its members and offers consultancy services in relation to this.

The appointment to the board of the Biogas Association means that BayWa r.e. is now represented on the board of three of the main German lobbying organisations for the green energy market. The other two industry bodies are the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) and the German Solar Industry Association (BSW). Matthias Taft, Chairman of the Management Board of BayWa r.e., was delighted with the nomination: “As a project developer and supplier of systems and services we are continually extending our portfolio and now rank among Europe’s leading renewables companies. Membership of the Biogas Association’s board acknowledges our technical and business acumen as well as the pioneering progress we have made in the way we supply Germany with bio-energy.”

“I would like to thank my colleagues for voting for me and I look forward to strengthening our sector and using this position to actively shape the energy transition,” Mr Eberlein announced on his acceptance of the appointment.

“The Biogas Association provides a central point of contact for all the needs of the biogas sector, and together we will continue working to ensure biomethane remains an important part of the energy switch-over,” he concluded.

Jens Eberlein joined the BayWa Group at the start of 2011 and since 2012 has managed the activities of the energy trading company BayWa r.e. Group. Prior to that, Mr Eberlein, a graduate business manager and trained banker, was in charge of the energy procurement division of a southern German energy service provider and worked as a consultant for various corporate consultancies.

BayWa r.e. named Growth Partner of the Year in REC Global Partner Awards 2013

Munich – October 2013: REC, the largest European supplier of solar panels globally, today announced the 2013 winners of the REC Global Partner Awards, honouring partners for their success in the last year and highlighting achievement in marketing and sales. The REC Global Partner Awards are presented in several categories, and the 2013 winners all stand out in their commitment to excellence in a particular aspect of the industry.

REC, which ranks among the top ten solar suppliers worldwide, has attracted high performing partners who are deservedly strong in their region or area of business, and the annual REC Global Partner Awards give due recognition to the “best of the best”. Commenting on the 2013 awards, Luc Graré, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, REC, said, “As this year’s awards show, the commitment from our partners to delivering excellence is stronger than ever. We are proud to be associated with such outstanding enterprises.”

  • The Award for REC Marketer of the Year 2013 goes to the Belgian Carbomat Group in recognition of two outstanding marketing initiatives. REC Platinum Partner Carbomat last autumn hosted a high-level conference for the Flanders solar market (the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium), attended by 80 percent of the installers in Flanders plus key representatives from supplier companies and banks. The conference gave fresh impetus to the industry following the cut in feed-in tariffs in Belgium in August 2012. In addition to the conference, Carbomat staged a major initiative to raise awareness for solar power, joining with partners across the industry in a media campaign targeted at end users.
  • The 2013 winner of the Installation of the Year award went to Singapore-based Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd, which has won a contract for turnkey design, engineering, planning, procurement and construction of three solar power plants totalling 36 MWp in the Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri provinces of Thailand. Once the plants are complete, around 144,000 REC solar panels will generate approximately 56,000 MW/h of solar electricity per year, enough to power 23,000 Thai households.
  • Project Partner of the Year is the German company F&S Solar Concept GmbH – who only became a REC partner in 2012 and since then has installed projects with a rated output capacity totalling 15 MW. One single project, the largest solar installation to date in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg, delivers a rated output of 8 MW, enough to power over 2,200 households. With the new partnership off to such a flying start, REC is looking forward to many more exciting projects with F&S Solar Concept GmbH.
  • From newest to longest-standing: 2013 Growth Partner of the Year is BayWa r.e. Solarsysteme GmbH, REC’s longest-standing partner and a REC Global Program member since 2006. Gold Partner BayWa r.e. earns its award for managing to double its REC sales revenue year-on-year from 2012 to 2013. The company has won substantial business in the commercial segment for REC, further expanding our Solar Professional Network, and is on track to become one of REC’s top three distributors.
  • REC Distribution Partner of the Year is the US solar distributor AEE Solar Inc., which became a Platinum Partner in 2012. AEE Solar has distributed REC solar panels in the US for over 5 years and will distribute more panels in 2013 than any other partner globally. AEE Solar is one of the US’s leading distributors, with over 30 years of history, supplying large and small installers nationwide since 1979. Expert technical support and superior service allow AEE Solar to stand out amongst distributors and is a reason that REC is proud to continue to partner with them in bringing REC products to the US market.

Designed as a platform of support, the REC Global Partner Program builds long-term alliances with strong partners around the world, and helps partner companies to market and sell REC products effectively as well as raise their own visibility through the distribution landscape. With a network that includes over 20 Platinum and Gold Partners worldwide – and some of these partners do business with REC in more than one country – REC is committed to maintaining these partnerships with leading players across Europe, USA and Asia Pacific (APAC) as a key element of its global business development strategies, and views the REC Global Partner Program and its annual awards as an ideal framework to maintain and promote these vital industry alliances.

We are now BayWa r.e. Solar Systems Ltd

We are delighted to announce that we are now BayWa r.e. Solar Systems Ltd.

On Friday (27 September) we held a mid-morning event to celebrate our official renaming at our offices in Machynlleth, mid Wales. Günter Haug, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. and Frank Jessel, Head of International Operations flew in from Munich especially for the renaming ceremony held for directors and staff. The theme for the event was set using BayWa r.e. colour-coded tableware, flags and signage, green drinks and a triple layered chocolate cake sculpted in the style of our new logo. We also used the opportunity to raise some money for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning of behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The hour-long event included keynote speeches from Günter Haug and from UK Managing Director Ian Draisey. Günter Haug gave us a brief history of the BayWa Group and spoke about BayWa r.e. renewable energy’s plans for the coming year. This was then followed a symbolic physical renaming process to reverse the company name in a mosaic style jigsaw changing it to form another integral part of the whole BayWa r.e. renewable energy ‘jigsaw’ as shown in the photos below.

Ian then spoke and concluded his speech with: “Nothing has really changed apart from our company name and logo. We still operate by the same ethos and principles that we have for many years. And we are immensely proud to now be a full integrated part of the BayWa r.e. renewable energy group – a company of global significance in the renewable energy industry.”
