SolarEdge launches new E-Series three-phase inverters

As one of the global brand leaders in inverter technology, SolarEdge are always striving to create and improve their technology to ensure customers receive the highest quality products.

The NEW E-Series are the next generation of low power, three-phase residential inverters that have just been launched by SolarEdge. They feature multiple design improvements including being smaller, lighter and easier to install than previous models.

Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, the new E-Series are specifically designed to work with power optimisers to ensure the highest power output for residential systems.

One of the main features of the new E-Series is the lack of external fan, which is not required by the small and efficient inverters due to the small amount of heat being produced. The ambient temperature is kept stable by the improved internal fan which prevents hotspots in the circuitry.

Without the external fan, these new inverters are much quieter, smaller and even more efficient making them ideal for residential applications.

The inverters are also much lighter and therefore easier to ship, carry and install. The lighter weight has been achieved by reducing the size of the heat sink. In fact, this has removed almost a third of the weight as compared to the previous generation of SolarEdge three-phase inverters currently on the market.

The SolarEdge PV inverter combines sophisticated digital control technology with efficient power conversion architecture to achieve superior solar power harvesting and best-in class reliability.

The fixed-voltage technology ensures the solar inverter is always working at its optimal input voltage, regardless of the number of modules in a string or environmental conditions (DC/AC conversion only).

The inverters also feature built-in module level monitoring and have internet connection via broadband or wireless ZigBee. A proprietary data monitoring receiver has been integrated into the inverter and aggregates the power optimizer performance data from each PV module. This data can be transmitted to the web and accessed via the SolarEdge Monitoring Platform for performance analysis, fault detection and troubleshooting of PV systems.

Key features of the NEW E-Series three phase inverters:

  • Smaller, lighter (under 22kg!) and easier to install than the previous generation
  • Quieter operation ( <40 dBA) – no external fan, improved internal fan for ambient temperature control
  • Superior inverter efficiency (98%)
  • 12 year SolarEdge inverter warranty, extendable to 20 or 25 years

The new E-Series inverters are available in the size range 4-8kW, with a larger 9-10kW due for release at a later date. Find out more on the SolarEdge website.
